Two surgeons working across from each other. Four hands in the cavity. Each needs their own light cone, and neither can afford the other’s shoulder blocking half the beam. Standard dual-head surgical lights use a 700mm main head and a 500mm satellite — and in many cases that works fine. But when you’re doing a bilateral procedure, a complex spinal reconstruction, or a cardiac case where the assistant surgeon is doing real work — not just retracting — that 500mm head becomes the weakest link in the sterile field. You end up repositioning the light three times during the critical phase of the procedure, and every adjustment costs seconds you don’t have.

The AM-LED700/700 is built for exactly this scenario. Both heads are full 700mm diameter. Both deliver the same illumination depth, the same shadowless coverage, and the same color accuracy. The butterfly-style arm configuration — two domes suspended symmetrically from a central axis — isn’t an aesthetic choice. It’s an optical one: with both heads at equal diameter, the light cones overlap from complementary angles, eliminating shadows that a single head or an asymmetrical pair would leave behind.

Each 700mm head contains 73 individually positioned Osram LEDs, arranged in a multi-ring array that distributes light across the full diameter of the dome. The CRI exceeds 98, and color temperature is adjustable from 3,500K to 5,500K — so a vascular surgeon who needs to distinguish arterial from venous blood under deep tissue can dial in the warmth; a neurosurgeon who wants the whitest possible field for tumor margin identification can push toward the cool end. Both heads operate independently — different intensities, different color temperatures, different spot sizes — because the two surgeons might be working at different depths in different parts of the field.

Illuminance tops out at 180,000 lux per head, with continuously adjustable intensity from 10% to 100%. The four one-touch presets — endo mode, deep cavity mode, bright mode, and normal mode — let you switch the entire light configuration with a single press when the procedure transitions from open to laparoscopic and back. The digital memory function saves your last settings, so when you walk into the OR tomorrow morning, the light is already configured the way you like it — not the way someone on the night shift left it.

The butterfly arm geometry has an additional benefit: it’s optimized for laminar airflow ORs. The domes are shaped to minimize turbulence in the sterile field air column, and the arm routing keeps the central axis clear — no bulky joint directly over the surgical site disrupting the airflow pattern. If your facility runs a positive-pressure OR with ceiling HEPA banks, this light was designed to coexist with that system, not fight it.

The LED array is a cold light source — negligible infrared and essentially zero ultraviolet output. Temperature rise at the surgeon’s head position stays under 1°C, which after hour four of a long case is the difference between comfort and distraction. The light heads and handles are fully autoclavable, and the IPX4 rating means the housing tolerates the splash exposure that happens during arthroscopic procedures or irrigation-heavy cases.

With an effective illumination depth of 160cm and a spot diameter adjustable from 20cm to 30cm, the 700/700 covers everything from shallow wound exploration to deep abdominal or thoracic cavities. The recommended installation height is 2.7m to 3.1m — standard ceiling height for most OR construction — and the arm system articulates through full 360-degree rotation with counterbalanced positioning that doesn’t drift after you let go.

We ship the LED700/700 with full CE certification, Osram LED documentation for your maintenance records, and installation support from our technical team. It’s not the cheapest dual-head light on the market — and it shouldn’t be, because the second head is a full 700mm, not a 500mm compromise. If your case mix includes two-surgeon procedures, deep cavity work, or any scenario where light coverage determines whether the team can operate efficiently or has to work around the equipment, this is the configuration you want. Send us your OR dimensions and procedure types, and we’ll confirm the mounting layout that works for your space.
