Product Details

A dentist in Mombasa once told me he’d rather have three AM-800 chairs that work every day than one premium unit that goes down for two weeks while he waits for a technician to fly in from Nairobi. That’s the logic behind this chair, and honestly, it’s hard to argue with. The AM-800 is our most basic adult dental chair—electric positioning, a standard delivery system, a washable PVC surface—and it exists because there are thousands of small clinics around the world that need a chair that turns on every morning and doesn’t require a master’s degree in biomedical engineering to maintain. It’s not exciting. It’s just reliable, and in dentistry, reliable beats exciting ten times out of ten.

The chair supports patients up to 135 kg with a seat height range of 460 mm to 800 mm—low enough for elderly patients who can’t climb onto a high chair, high enough that you’re not hunched over during a two-hour procedure. The backrest reclines from upright to fully supine, and the seat tilts independently for Trendelenburg positioning. Movement is controlled by foot pedal and side-mounted rocker switches, not a touchscreen—fewer things that can fail. The motor is a 24V DC unit with a duty cycle rated for continuous clinical use, and the control board is housed in a sealed compartment under the seat base to protect against dust and fluid ingress.

The delivery system is left-mounted with a swing arm that gives you about 180 degrees of rotation. Three handpiece positions—two high-speed with independent water spray and chip air, one low-speed—plus a three-way syringe, saliva ejector, and a spittoon bowl with a timed cup filler. The operating light is a standard LED unit, 25,000-35,000 lux, with a three-joint balanced arm. It’s not the brightest light we make, but it’s bright enough for routine restorative work and extractions, which is what this chair is mostly used for.

Upholstery is seamless medical-grade PVC in your choice of four standard colors—blue, gray, beige, and dark green. The seams are heat-welded, not stitched, so there are no needle holes for fluids to seep through. The armrests are removable for patient transfer, and the headrest adjusts in three planes with a friction lock. The base is cast aluminum with a low-profile footprint that fits in the 1.8-meter-wide operatories common in older clinic buildings.

I keep these in stock in Shanghai year-round. If you’re setting up a new clinic, expanding an existing one, or replacing chairs that have been in service since before your youngest hygienist was born, the AM-800 is the chair I’d start the conversation with. It’s not flashy, but it shows up for work. Contact me below and I’ll send you the full spec sheet and a quote for your quantity.
