An operating room floor covered in cables, gas hoses, and equipment carts isn’t just a tripping hazard—it’s a sterility breach waiting to happen and a workflow bottleneck that costs minutes on every case. The AM-Y medical pendant solves this by moving everything upward. Gas outlets, power sockets, instrument trays, monitor mounts—all suspended from the ceiling on a dual articulated arm that rotates 340 degrees and reaches wherever the surgical team needs it. The floor stays clear, the cables stay organized, and the circulating nurse can move freely without navigating an obstacle course of equipment stands.

The pendant system is built on a ceiling-mounted column with two transverse arms: a primary arm with a 700 to 1100 mm reach and a secondary arm spanning 400 to 600 mm, both configurable to the hospital’s specific OR dimensions. The arms rotate independently or simultaneously across the full 340-degree horizontal range, and the terminal box at the end of each arm houses the gas, power, and data connections. The net load capacity is 80 kg per arm, which supports a monitor, infusion pumps, and instrument trays without deflection or drift over hours of use.

The instrument platform has three height-adjustable layers at 550 mm to 400 mm spacing, plus an integrated drawer for small instrument storage. The platform edges are rounded with an anti-collision design—a detail that matters when an anesthesia provider in a hurry catches their hip on a sharp corner for the hundredth time. Gas interfaces are configurable to the hospital’s medical gas specification, typically including oxygen, air, nitrous oxide, and vacuum, with quick-connect fittings that allow the anesthesia machine to be supplied directly from the pendant rather than from wall outlets behind the machine. Power outlets are integrated into the terminal box with voltage options configurable per regional standards.

The AM-Y is designed for three primary clinical settings. In the surgical OR, it suspends the anesthesia gas delivery, monitoring, and instrument trays above the sterile field. In the endoscopy suite, it holds the endoscope processor, light source, and monitor at the ergonomic height for the endoscopist. In the anesthesia induction area, it consolidates gas and power connections into a single overhead point, eliminating the tangle of hoses that typically runs across the induction room floor. The 220V 50Hz power input and standardized mounting hardware make installation straightforward in new construction and retrofit projects alike.

If you’re designing a new OR, renovating an existing surgical suite, or trying to declutter an endoscopy room where floor space has become the scarcest resource, the AM-Y pendant is worth a serious evaluation. Contact me with your room dimensions and gas requirements—I’ll help you configure the arm lengths, gas outlets, and platform layout for your specific setup.
