Aluminum wheelchairs are lighter. Nobody disputes that. But steel wheelchairs have advantages that spec sheets don’t always capture: they’re stiffer under load, which means less frame flex when the user shifts position, and they’re typically forty to fifty percent less expensive than an equivalent aluminum model. The AM-FS901B is our powder-coated steel manual wheelchair—eight-inch front casters with solid tires, a foldable frame, and a weight capacity that handles the average adult without the frame creaking or twisting. If you need to lift the chair into a car daily, aluminum is the better choice. If the chair stays on one floor of a house and the user values stability and cost over portability, steel is the practical answer. The 901B is for the latter scenario.
