When a veterinary oncologist tells an owner that their dog has a liver tumor, the conversation that follows used to have two paths: surgery or palliative care. Surgery carries anesthetic risk, recovery time, and a price tag that many families simply cannot absorb. Palliative care means accepting the inevitable. Radiofrequency ablation creates a third path — one that destroys the tumor in situ through thermal energy delivered by a needle electrode, with no incision, minimal recovery time, and a procedure duration measured in minutes rather than hours. The RFA-100 is our veterinary tumor ablation system designed specifically for this use case, and the engineering philosophy behind it is worth understanding before you evaluate the specifications.

The fundamental challenge in tumor ablation is boundary control. The goal is to heat the tumor tissue to the point of coagulative necrosis while preserving every millimeter of healthy tissue surrounding it. Too little energy, and tumor cells survive at the margin — the ablation is incomplete. Too much energy, and you damage adjacent organs, major vessels, or neural structures — the ablation causes collateral harm. The RFA-100 solves this with bi-variate feedback: the ablation needle and temperature probe continuously sample tumor impedance and boundary temperature in real time, feeding that data into an intelligent control algorithm that dynamically adjusts power output throughout the ablation cycle. The system knows when the tissue has reached necrotic threshold, and it stops. No guesswork. No reliance on the surgeon’s subjective judgment about when the ablation is “done.”

This is a fundamentally different approach from first-generation RF ablation systems, which operate like a microwave — set a power level and a timer, and hope the result is what you intended. The RFA-100 operates more like a thermostat with thermal intelligence, responding to the tissue state moment by moment. In veterinary oncology, where patients can’t report postoperative pain or complications the way human patients can, that level of precision is not a nice-to-have.

Two Core Technologies

1   Bi-variate Feedback

Radio frequency ablation needles and temperature probes can collect tumor impedance and tempera- ture in real time and provide dynamic feedback on the state  of the tumor tissue, which  can  achieve precise control of the temperature at the boundary of tumor ablation and prevent excessive ablations on healthy tissues around the tumor and the forma- tion of eschars inside the tumor, so as to reach the goal of precise ablation.

2   Intelligent Control Algorithms

The  feedback  control  algorithm  can  intelligently recognize and judge the collected real-time imped- ance  and  temperature.  Through  this  intelligent ablation mode, we can realize the fully automatic adjustment  of  ablation  power  and  ablation  time during  the  whole  process,  without  the  need  for doctors to  manually set the  ablation  parameters before the operation.

Adopting dual  monitoring technology of impedance and boundary temperature to provide feedback on the status of  ablated  tumor  tissue   in  real  time,  which   precisely controls  the  ablation  boundaries,  preventing  excessive ablation, protecting nearby organs and healthy tissue and greatly reducing pain in postoperative recovery.

In intelligent ablation mode, the duration of the ablation is no   more  than   10   minutes,  significantly   improving  the efficiency of the operation and the pets can be discharged from the hospital and quickly return to normal life.

Operating in Dual Mode Simply and Flexibly

The generator has two built-in modes of intelligent ablation mode and manual ablation mode.

In the intelligent mode, with a built-in intelligent feedback control algo- rithm, there is no need for doctors to manually set the complex output energy and the time for ablation, and the whole process of ablation is automatically adjusted and controlled by the intelligent algorithm;

The manual mode meets the doctor’s personalized operation needs, and the operation is more flexible and convenient.

Intelligent Recognition and Parameter Monitoring

After the ablation needle is connected to the generator, the generator will automatically recognize the model of the ablation needle and dynamically adjust the ablation parameters through intelligent control algorithm.

Parameters like temperature, power and impedance are updated in real time during the process of ablation, offer- ing a direct and visual indication of the ablation process.

When  the  ablation  is  completed,  the  generator  stops automatically,   which   reduces   the   doctor’s   workload, makes the ablation more efficient and reduces reliance on doctor’s experience.

High-performance  microprocessor  intelligently  recognizes the fit of neutral electrode, effectively solving the neutral electrode heating problem. Meanwhile, the output power is precise and stable, which avoids the occurrence of medical accidents and guarantees the safety of the operation
