Product Details

A rehabilitation clinic with twenty walkers in its equipment room is almost never using all twenty at the same time—but it is cycling through multiple patients per day with different heights, different gait patterns, and different post-surgical restrictions. The walker that fits a 155-centimeter elderly woman recovering from ankle surgery is useless for a 185-centimeter man three weeks post-hip replacement, and keeping walkers in five different sizes doubles the inventory cost and the storage footprint. The AM-FS9145L addresses this with the widest height adjustment range in our walker lineup—720 to 980 millimeters—plus adjustable-width hand grip positioning that lets the same frame serve patients at both ends of the adult height spectrum.

The frame is aluminum with telescoping legs that extend in 25-millimeter increments across ten height positions. Each leg locks independently with a spring-loaded pin and a secondary friction collar that prevents the pin from being the sole load-bearing element—if the pin fails, the collar still holds, a redundancy I added after seeing a competitor’s frame collapse at a trade show when a pin sheared under load. The hand grip width adjusts from 460 to 540 millimeters measured center-to-center, accommodating both narrow-shouldered and broad-shouldered users. The mechanism for width adjustment is a tool-less sliding clamp at the top crossbar: loosen the clamp, slide the grip assembly to the desired width, tighten. It takes about ten seconds and doesn’t require a hex key that inevitably goes missing.

The hand grips are 36-millimeter contoured vinyl, identical to the grips on our standard models so there’s no variation in feel when patients transition from a clinic’s 9145L to their home walker. The glide caps are our clinical-grade high-traction compound—slightly grippier than the home-use caps, because clinic floors see more spills, more disinfectant residue, and more hurried foot traffic that could send an inadequately grippy walker sliding. The caps are 30 millimeters in diameter, wider than standard, to provide a larger contact patch that compensates for the potential instability introduced by the wider height and width adjustment ranges.

The 9145L folds with a center-pull mechanism to 200 millimeters deep, weighs 2.8 kilograms—slightly heavier than our fixed-width models due to the additional clamping hardware—and has a 150-kilogram weight capacity. If you’re stocking a rehab clinic, a physiotherapy department, or a senior care facility where one walker needs to serve multiple patients of different sizes, the 9145L eliminates the need for a fleet of single-size frames.
