Product Details

A veterinarian in rural Thailand told me she’d been using a refurbished machine from 1998 because new anesthesia workstations cost more than her annual clinic revenue. She needed something that could deliver sevoflurane to a Golden Retriever for a routine spay and to a Macaque for a dental extraction—nothing exotic, just safe, reliable gas anesthesia without a ventilator she’d never plug in. The AM-01D is the machine I showed her. She bought it, and the last time I checked, it had logged over four hundred cases without a service call.

The AM-01D is our entry-level anesthesia machine, and I want to be clear about what “entry-level” means and what it doesn’t. It doesn’t mean unreliable, and it doesn’t mean dangerous. It means we designed a simplified gas delivery and vaporizer system for the environments where a full anesthesia workstation with integrated ventilation is overkill—small operating rooms in community hospitals, dental surgery suites, outpatient surgical centers, and veterinary clinics. The pneumatically driven architecture is the same engineering lineage as the AM-01 and AM-01B, so the core safety systems—oxygen failure protection, hypoxic guard, pressure relief—are identical. What’s different is the scope: one vaporizer instead of two, manual ventilation as the primary mode instead of an integrated multi-mode ventilator, and a straightforward control layout that a part-time anesthesia provider can operate confidently.

The AM-01D accommodates a single vaporizer for enflurane, isoflurane, or sevoflurane across the standard 0.5% to 5% setting range. The 10.4-inch TFT display is actually larger than the AM-01B’s screen, giving clear readouts of airway pressure, tidal volume, and respiratory rate for the anesthetist who’s manually bagging. The machine footprint is 132 × 100 × 75 cm and weighs 114 kg with two vaporizers attached—manageable to position in a small OR without dominating the room. Backup power provides at least 30 minutes of operation during an outage.

This is the machine for the small hospital that does C-sections and hernia repairs under general anesthesia twice a week, the dental surgeon who needs gas sedation capability, and the veterinary practice that sees everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes. It is not the machine for a busy general surgery OR doing laparoscopic colectomies—that’s the AM-01. It’s not the machine for thoracic cases requiring complex ventilation modes—that’s the AM-01B. It’s the machine for when you need safe, simple gas anesthesia and nothing more.

If you’re outfitting a small OR, a dental surgery suite, or a veterinary clinic and you’ve been priced out of mainstream anesthesia workstations, contact me. I’ll send you the full AM-01D spec sheet and help you figure out whether this is the right level for your case volume.
